Stuart I. Oran
Stuart I. Oran is a Partner of Liberty Hall. Prior to joining Liberty Hall, Mr. Oran served as an operating partner or advisor to several private equity firms and aerospace businesses on more than twenty transactions in the air carrier, aerostructures, aero engine, leasing and services segments of the industry, including the acquisitions of Spirit Airlines and Turbo Combustor Technology. Mr. Oran is also a co-founder of FCB Financial Holdings, formed in 2009 to acquire failed banks in FDIC-assisted transactions, that raised over $900 million in capital, acquired nine banks, and whose bank subsidiary was named by Forbes in 2016 as the 10th best bank in the United States. From 1994-2002, he was a senior executive of United Airlines where he served on the Management Committee, led its International Division, representing all of United operations outside of the United States and Canada, $6 billion in annual revenues and over 12,000 employees in 27 countries, and built and led its corporate aviation line of business. Mr. Oran began his career in 1974 at the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison where he rose to become a senior corporate partner and advised Mr. Taylor beginning in 1992.
Mr. Oran serves or has served on the boards of directors of Accurus Aerospace Corporation, AIM Aerospace Corporation, Aircraft Performance Group, Dunlop Aircraft Tyres, United Air Lines, Spirit Airlines, OHA Investment Corporation, FCB Financial Holdings/Florida Community Bank, Deerfield Capital, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Wendy’s International. He has served as a Trustee of the Shedd Aquarium and The Latin School of Chicago and as Chairman of the Chicago Urban League. He has also been a member of the Cornell Council, The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, the US-Japan Economic Task Force of the Council on Foreign Relations and the US-Hong Kong Business Council. Mr. Oran earned his B.S. from Cornell University and J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. He and his wife have two grown children and live in New York City.
